The Living Flame
They walk before me, those Eyes filled with light,
Undoubtedly magnetized by a very wise Angel;
They walk, those divine brothers who are my brothers,
Shaking in my eyes their diamond-studded fires.
Saving me from every trap and from all grave sin,
They lead my steps along the path of Beauty;
They are my servants and I am their slave;
All of my being obeys this living flame.
Charming Eyes, you shine with the mystical brightness
Of church candles burning in broad daylight; the sun
Reddens but does not extinguish their fantastic flame;
They celebrate Death, you sing of Awakening;
You walk singing the awakening of my soul,
Stars whose flame no sun can fade!
